Want to go to a festival this Summer, but not sure where? If you are free this July, why not try out the Llangollen Fringe festival in North Wales!
Where is Llangollen?
Llangollen is a picturesque town situated on the River Dee and surrounded by the Berwyn mountains in north-east Wales. It may be a small town, but it has a big festival!
When is the festival on?
The Llangollen Fringe Festival 2014 runs from 17th – 27th July. Now the longest festival in Wales, the Fringe is a 10-day extravaganza of world music, theatre, comedy and recitals.
From small beginnings in an old weavers’ shed, the festival has come along way over the last ten years and has now become one of the UK’s most successful fringes. The main venue is now the Victorian Llangollen Town Hall, a theatre with enough seats for 300 happy festival-goers.
The entire festival is based in the town centre, which means there are plenty of local pubs, restaurants, cafés and places to stay.
What’s the 2014 line-up like?
The festival has an awesome line-up of both new talent and established artists from across the globe. This year, the bill includes solo-acoustics from former Squeeze frontman Glenn Tilbrook, love-lorn synth pop from East India Youth, Afro-Caribbean rock from Osibisa, readings from Jon Ronson and stand-up comedy from Paul Sinha and Gary Delaney.
